NIGERIA: Yoruba youths blame S-West PDP crisis on Jonathan, Tukur

President Goodluck Jonathan and National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.Yoruba Youths Alliance has blamed the crisis rocking Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the South-West on President Goodluck Jonathan and National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.

The group said the President and Tukur’s seeming poor handling of the situation created the problem, urging them to take urgent steps to address the situation.

Leader of the group, Mr. Jackson Ojo, told newsmen in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, yesterday, that it was sad that some highly-placed members of the party could choose to destroy the party because of the “inordinate political ambition of one man.”

Lekan, who said that his group was disturbed by developments in the party in the South-West, said if the situation was not brought under control, it could force many founding members of the party to pull out. He said efforts should be made to ensure that the party makes meaningful impact come 2015.

He alleged that the crisis was part of a well-orchestrated plan to dislodge those perceived to be loyal to former President Olusegun Obasanjo from the party.

He said: “My advice to the President and the Chairman of the party is that they should think twice; if the party had been mutilated and poisoned by those ahead of them, Jonathan would not have had this party’s platform to become president. They should not kill the party because of one man’s ambition.”
