Two people docked for alleged theft of N50m

courtA 55-year-old woman, Fatimo Ogunremi, and one other, Ajulo Olayinka, 42, have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing N50 million belonging to one Adefunke Owonifari.

Similarly, a 29-year-old man, Gift Agbogidi, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly robbing one Evelyn Okorie of N50,000.

In the stealing case, when the charge was read to the defendants, they pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and fraud, before Magistrate A .O. Komolafe.

The defendants were said to have committed the alleged offence on November 19, 2012, at about 2: 30p.m  at 14, Oluwafemi Street in Ilasa  area of Lagos.

Olayinka and Ogunremi, were said to have conspired among themselves to steal jeweries, valued at N50 million and fraudulently converted it to their own use, property of one Adefunke Owonifari.

Magistrate Komolafe, however, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N5 million each with two sureties, in like sum and adjourned the case till March 15,  2013 for trial

In the robbery case, Agbogidi and others now at large, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery, preferred against him by the police.
