Gov. Obi The Anglican Bishop of Amichi, Most Rev. Ephraim Ikeakor said that the Church was not afraid to commend Gov. Obi or any public officer who is doing well to promote the welfare of the people.

He said this during the visit by Governor Obi to the Amichi Diocesan hospital.

The Bishop said that Obi had done so much for the State and had restored the confidence of Anambrarian in governance. His words: “It is on record that within the brief stay of his Excellency on the saddle of leadership in Anambra State, he has distinguished himself and scored many firsts.”

There is no gainsaying the fact that his Excellency Mr. Peter Obi , CON, has written his name in Gold in the history of governance in Anambra State. We are proud to associate with you.”

Conducting the Governor round the hospital facilities, the bishop said it was originally built by Akuruouno Social Club of Amichi and handed over to the Church to own and manage.

The Bishop who said the Church had spent over 7 Million naira in the rehabilitation of the complex, called for the assistance of the Governor towards rehabilitating of the complex, saying that it is the only fully-fledged Hospital located within the entire Nnewi South Local Government Area.

He specially commended the Governor for not just being the only Governor that has visited the hospital, but noted with delight that he has been visiting hospitals, schools and institutions in the State in rare show of good leadership the State lacked for many years.

Speaking further, the Bishop named some of their immediate needs to include am ambulance, an Xray machine, ultra sound machines and assistance to complete their Doctors residential quarters, among others.

Responding, the Governor said he felt bad that most facilities built by Churches, communities and organisations where left to ruins when the least government would have done was to help in their maintenance knowing fully that those facilities serve the needs of the people of the State.

The Highlights of the visit was the presentation of the Cheque of N2 Million to assist in the rehabilitation. The Governor however said that since the dilapidation based on eye witness was far more disastrous than what he had earlier imagined that the Government would go back to the drawing board on how to partner with the Church for the total rehabilitation of the complex.
