•Governor sAnambra State Governor, Peter Obiays no clue yet on floating corpses

Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, on Friday said President Goodluck Jonathan was not responsible for the decay in the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos as exposed by a private television station recently.

He, however, said the administration was working hard to solve the problem and others facing security agencies in the country.

Obi spoke with State House correspondents at the end of a meeting of the Police Fund Committee chaired by Vice-President Namadi Sambo.

He said Jonathan was committed to changing the fortunes of all security agencies in the country, especially the police.

“We are looking at the overall picture, not just the rot here or rot there. The rot (in Police College, Ikeja) was not brought about by this administration but we are striving to solve it and we can’t solve it without funding.

“We can’t provide adequate security without funding. We will come up with something that will make meaning to Nigerians,” he said.

On the time frame within which the government’s efforts will begin to materialise, Obi said the committee was fast-tracking its work in order to deliver in good time.

The governor said despite his promise of N5m for anyone with useful information, he had no clue yet on the corpses found floating on a river in his state recently.

Obi, however, insisted that proper autopsy must be carried out on the corpses in order to know what went wrong, especially since there was no reported case of communal clash in the area.
