As she walked into the Corporate head office of Vanguard Media  in Lagos, it was obvious that  all was not well with Miss Perpetua Amaefule , as she later identified herself.

To confirm this assumption, she disclosed that her family had been thrown into panic following the mysterious disappearance of her  85-year-old father  since January 10, 2013, with all efforts to find him, futile.

Pa  Chijioke  Amaefula as gathered, was last seen on January 10. 2013, in his apartment at his 38, Wilmer Cresent abode in  Olodi Apapa area of Lagos.

Apprehension,  set in at about 2pm same day, after one of his children, Perpetua ,  knocked on his bedroom  door to invite him for lunch.

“ But  there was no response. At first, I thought he was sleeping. But on second thought, I went inside, only to find out that the bed was vacant. When I asked after him, I was told he walked out of the house around 11am.   We went to look for him in  the church where he always went but  he was not there. I called my mother on phone to find out if he was with her at the shop but again, I was told he was not there.

Octogenarian suffers memory loss
Tension at that point, heightened. At first , his family members thought he could have been kidnapped. But after waiting for several hours without any call from the supposed kidnappers demanding for ransom, they concluded their father could have strayed.

This is because,  Crime Guard gathered that  Pa Chijioke Amaefula suffers  memory loss, apparently due to his age.

Asked why noone was assigned to look after him, Perpetua replied, “ We have two boys looking after him. But they said  he told them he was going to meet my mother at the shop and they allowed him.

We are so worried because he has never left home in this manner.  The only places he used to go, is the church and my mother’s shop. We have checked all hospitals and remand homes without any trace of him”.

Policemen at Tolu , Trinity  and Ajeromi divisions  as gathered, have been  informed about the disappearance of  Pa Amaefule.

A Police source at Trinity said the case would be treated as that of a missing person, until proven contrary and therefore,  called on Lagosians to be on the lookout  for the missing man and avail the Police with any information that could lead to his discovery.
