A founding member of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Elder Sunny Uyigue, has warned President Goodluck Jonathan not to allow the politics of his party, ahead of the 2015 presidential election, disintegrate Nigeria.

Uyigue, now a chieftain of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Edo State, attributed the current crisis in PDP to what he described as the seeming desperation of the President to ensure that Chief Tony Anenih becomes Chairman, Board of Trustees of PDP. He reminded the President that he is president of the entire nation and not PDP alone, and therefore,  should avoid action capable to destabilising the prevailing peace in the country.

He said: “It is sad that because of the 2015 presidential election, President Jonathan is allowing himself to be used by persons, who are no longer politically relevant in their respective states. How can Chief Anenih help Jonathan emerge as President in 2015, when he could not help himself during the governorship election in Edo State, where Adams Oshiomhole embarrassed him even in his domain in Uromi?

“All Nigerians voted massively for Jonathan and not PDP or Anenih, so why will the President now want to heat up the system because he is desperate to make Anenih BOT Chairman through the back door. He should be careful because if the happenings in PDP cause any disaffection in the country, the President will be held responsible.”
