02012013C-airport-traficThe Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, yesterday said  that the long traffic delays experienced on airport roads due to security checks was in the overall interest of the public.

Mr. Yakubu Dati, the General Manager, Corporate Communications for FAAN, said this in a statement made available in Lagos.

“We wish to assure air passengers that passed through the roads leading to our airports during this Christmas/New Year holidays that the long traffic delays experienced on airport access roads, due to routine security checks, is in overall interest of the general public,” he said.

He said that the government was determined to put all measures in place at strategic locations, including airports to forestal any form of security breach during the yuletide period.

He noted that the measure was a positive step designed to complement FAAN’s effort at ensuring maximum safety and security of lives and property.

Dati, however, advised air passengers to leave their homes early so that the delays would not hamper their pre-boarding formalities at the airport.
