For the first time since the inception of the present democratic dispensation in the country, the annual budget of Enugu State government will today be presented to the State House of Assembly by an acting governor.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Amechi Okolo, stated that the acting governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, would be presented to the state legislators today, contrary to expectations that Governor Sullivan Chime would be available to perform the task.

Governor Chime has been on vacation since September, but unconfirmed reports said he was receiving medical treatment abroad for an undisclosed illness.

The state government budgeted the sum of N74, 997,740 for the 2013 fiscal year.
