The truth is that Buhari’s brain died in 1999

Not many Nigerians remember Group Captain Sampson Emeka Omeruah. He was General Buhari's Minister for Sports when the Golden Eaglets won the Junior World Cup (Under 16) in 1985, and led the Nigerian team to the Los Angeles Olympic in 1984.

Emeka Omeruah also served as NFA Chairman and in 1994, took the Green Eagles to make their first World Cup appearance and eventually win the 1996 Olympic gold medal.

It was during his tenures that "Super", "Flying" and "Golden" were prefixed to Nigeria's national football teams. That was the Golden Age of sports in Nigeria.

Just to spoil this short post, Emeka Omeruah, an Igbo, was a Nigerian Army junior officer before the Nigerian civil war. He fought as a fiery Biafran officer during the war, and like Rear Admiral Ebitu Ukiwe, lost his seniority when the war ended. He was absorbed into a less treatening Air Force, while Ukiwe was absorbed into an almost docile Nigerian Navy.

Back to my track, can you compare Emeka Omeruah to Solomon Dalung? When we were shouting that Buhari was brain dead, we were accused of insulting an old man. Can you honestly say that the same man who made Emeka Omeruah Minister also made Solomon Dalung Minister?

The truth is that Buhari's brain died in 1999. His name was Tunde Idiagbon. See him on Buhari's right on the photo, and Emeka on Buhari's left
