The Secretary to the state Cross River state Govt., Mrs Martina Agbor was held against her will yesterday.

She was held hostage by angry staff of the Calabar Urban Development Authority (CUDA), who claimed they have not been paid their allownaces.

The staff, who are mostly  street sweepers and gardeners, say they have not been paid their N5,000 allowance for seven months.

It took the intervention of the police, to free Mrs. Agbor.

On her part, the SSG said “They are saying that government owes them and I ask, owe you, how?  Look at the books, they have over 200 workers and yet the town is still dirty. What do we owe them for? Who are those that have been working? That was what brought me here.”
