The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has failed to attend a July 3, 2015, meeting of the APC’s National Executive Council (NEC) called to address the current crisis rocking the party.

Tinubu has not issued an official statement since Senator Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogara defied the party’s wishes to emerge Senate President and House of Representatives Speaker.

Saraki and Dogara contested and won on June 9 despite being excluded by an APC mock poll which pegged Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as the party’s sole candidates.

Tinubu’s only response to the drama, which has plunged the APC into crisis, was “I have no comment, I have no reaction.”

The APC leader made the statement upon Saraki’s emergence and has since then remained mum on the issue except to deny that he had held a secret meeting with the Senate President.

Following Saraki’s emergence however, the APC leader’s wife, Senator Remi Tinubu refused to shake him during her inauguration.

Also absent at the APC NEC meeting is former Interim Chairman, Bisi Akande.

Akande recently added fuel to the fire of the APC crisis when he said that Saraki and Dogara’s emergence was supported by the Northern elite and was being viewed as a conspiracy of the North against the South.
