The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) board of trustees Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, has resigned from his position, citing “the current state of affairs within the party” as the reason.

Anenih tendered his resignation to President Goodluck Jonathan in a letter titled "Notice of my decision to step down as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party."

It will be recalled that the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mua’zu also resigned from his position this morning, May 20, following weeks of pressure on him by other party leaders and members, who accused him of betraying the party in the March 28 and April 11 general elections.

The PDP plunged into crisis immediately after its massive loss in the election that saw the All Progressives Party (APC) sweeping most of the key positions.
