Three people are said to have died in Osun State after fighting broke out between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The violence reportedly erupted in Ile-Ife, the state capital, on Saturday, April 11, 2015.

The fighting is said to have raged through the night till the next day, Sunday, April 12, until it was eventually quelled by security agents.

The fight, which reportedly raged through the night, was said to have continued on Sunday with gun shots reported in some areas in the town before the arrival of security personnel.

“I saw a corpse on the road after the fight had subsided. Everybody ran inside to avoid being caught in the crossfire. I hope the number of casualties is not more than that,” a resident, Adewale Idowu, told Punch.

The incident was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, Babawale Afolabi.
