The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won 25 seats in the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

This puts the PDP in the majority ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which previously had 19 seats but now has none.

The result of the April 11 House of Assembly elections in the state was made known by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) via a statement released by spokesperson, Taiwo Gbadegesin.

Gbadegesin however said that the results from one council, Ilejemeje, were still pending due to a crisis which broke out in the area.

The mass victory of the PDP in the polls is expected to stall impeachment proceedings against Governor Ayo Fayose as the APC lawmakers who vowed to remove him from office have lost their positions.
