Sabongari (Kaduna State) – The Electoral Officer in Sabongari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Alhaji Sani Muhammadu-Namadi, said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would use the Card Reader for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections.

Muhammadu-Namadi said this on Wednesday in Sabongari, Kaduna State, at a one-day sensitisation workshop for stakeholders in the area, organised by INEC.

“There is no-going-back” on the use of card reader in the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections across the country,” he said.

He said that the introduction of the card reader had, to some extent, reduced electoral fraud and restored the people’s confidence in INEC.

“We were all directed by the INEC national headquarters that the card reader must be used in all the elections.

“The commission took into cognisance all the shortcomings experienced during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

“Appropriate measures were put in place to correct the shortcomings to ensure that the card readers work perfectly ,” he said.

The workshop drew participants from religious leaders; traditional rulers; security operatives and Journalists, among others.
