All the bank accounts of Enugu Catholic Priest of Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, have been frozen.

Sources traced the action to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

They claimed that the EFCC operatives who carried out the operation were detailed from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Mbaka was also said to have been asked to report at their Port Harcourt office on an unspecified date.

Mbaka’s media aide, Maximus Ugwuoke said: “All the cheques issued to the banks today (yesterday) were returned. We don’t know why they decided to use EFCC operatives from Port Harcourt while the zonal headquarters is here in Enugu. ”

The media aide said the action might not be unconnected with the December 31, 2014 message in which Fr. Mbaka criticised President Jonathan’s administration.

The priest had also raised the alarm that his life was being threatened

But the EFCC denied freezing the bank account of the fiery priest.

Head of Media and Publicity of the commission, Mr. Wilson Uwujiaren, in a statement last night, said:

“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been drawn to reports in a section of the media claiming that the Commission had frozen the accounts of Enugu-based Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Mass fame.

“The Commission wishes to state that there is no truth in the report and should be discountenanced.”
