The Nigerian government has intensified military operations against terrorist group, Boko Haram in recent times and as a result has recorded a string of victories.
This success can be attributed largely to the fact that Nigeria sought outside help to combat the insurgency.
Here is a list of five countries who citizens are contributing to the fight against Boko Haram in Nigeria:
Cameroon: Cameroon has deployed some of its soldiers to Nigeria to join a newly constituted multinational force against Boko Haram. President Paul Biya has vowed to wipe out the group.
Chad: Chad has deployed 2500 soldiers to join the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
Niger: Nigerien soldiers are also part of the newly formed multinational force.
Former Soviet Union: Nigeria is said to have hired mercenaries from the former Soviet Union to fight Boko Haram.
South Africa: South African mercenaries are also said to be currently fighting terrorists on Nigeria’s behalf. One such soldier, Leon Lotz was recently killed in friendly fire.
