Tambuwal: I will Exploit Abundant Mineral Resources in Sokoto If Elected

 The Speaker of the House of Representatives and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, on Tuesday reaffirmed his commitment to exploit the abundant mineral deposits in the state, if elected.

Tambuwal made the remark at the APC governorship campaign rally in Illela Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, this was aimed at diversifying the economy of the state, thereby creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the state.

He stated that this was to reduce overdependence on oil revenue and further generate income for the state.

Tambuwal pointed out that various feasibility studies had been conducted by the state government in that regard and if elected, would redouble efforts to boost the revenue base of the state.

“Already the state government has identified certain mineral resources for exploitation and if elected, I will intensify efforts to see to the actualisation of the dream,” Tambuwal said.

He expressed joy with the large turn out of people for the rally, saying it was an indication that the people of Sokoto were solidly behind the APC in the forthcoming elections.

Tambuwal called on the people of the area to come out en masse and vote for APC candidates at all levels in the general elections.

In a remark, Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, called on the people to vote for the APC for more dividends of democracy.

He assured the people of the state that Tambuwal would deliver the goods, if given the mandate.

The governor disclosed that his administration had already commenced the construction of the Illela International Border Market in Illela town.

Wamakko said the state government had already released N1 billion to the contractor for the commencement of the project, saying his administration was determined to make Illela Border Market a model in the country.
