mimikoCurrent INEC boss Prof Attahiru Jega will exit the stage for a new INEC boss; And Prof Nazim Olufemi Mimiko has been 'nominated' as the new INEC Chairman.

The 'supposedly' in-coming INEC Chairman, Prof Nazim Mimiko, PICTURED HERE, is the younger brother of PDP's Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State.

Nazim Olufemi Mimiko is a Professor of Political Science & International Relations; And also a former VC of Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State.

Prof Jega the outgoing INEC boss will, on 1st of March 2015, officially proceed on his 3-months of terminal leave in compliance with the Nigerian civil service USUAL procedures.

The nomination of Prof Mimiko as new INEC Chairman would have to be supported by atleast 2/3 of the Federal Legislative House for the appointment to take full effect.

However, seasoned political analysts have opined its a DONE DEAL owing to Jega's 'alleged' compromise of his office as INEC boss. Another factor pointed out is Senate-President David Mark's influence on the legislative house as a strong ally of President Jonathan whom Prof Jega has fallen out of favour with.

Also, a certain hierachy's lack of confidence in Jega's abilities to still carry out his duties impeccably like he did in 2011, may have been his undoing. This has come after rumours of his alleged romance with the opposition party the APC, which the ruling party stalwarts claim it reflected on the very poor distribution of the PVCs and which would have marred the electoral process of 2015 if not for the timely postponement of the scheduled exercise of Feb'14, amid other factors.
