The blueprint for the transformation of Abia State which was unveiled recently by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Dr. Alex Otti, has received the endorsement of the Abia people in Diaspora who considers the developmental agenda good enough to put the state back on the path of prosperity.

Abia communities in the United States of America, Canada and North America scored Otti’s blueprint very high, saying it is not only a comprehensive and credible plan, but also very practicable such that when fully implemented, the state will be better for it.

He plans to make agriculture, education, youth empowerment through job creation and infrastructure development among others the focus of his administration which the APGA candidate promised not to depend on the federal allocation to achieve for the state, “thereby giving the state a facelift and place it on the trajectory of rapid development.”

The group gave the commendation during an international electronic Live Call-in town hall meeting in Houston Texas in US which involved key leaders and influential voices across Abia communities in the U S, Canada and North America.

“Otti deserves high marks for the articulation of a comprehensive, credible plan,” the group stressed.

The governorship hopeful, during the online town hall chat, reassured Abia people in Diaspora of his total commitment to the development agenda of the state, saying he is determined to tackle the developmental challenges of the state headlong if elected governor on February 28.

“Gone are the days when people are ashamed to introduce themselves as farmers. Agriculture is now in vogue. Unemployment and crime rate will drastically reduce once there’s a good environment for businesses to thrive.

“We will revive all our industries now in comatose by creating an enabling environment for investors to do their businesses. We will encourage youths’ involvement in agriculture through incentives and provision of equipment for mechanised farming,” Otti reiterated.

Otti who called into the online meet at about 10p.m. (EST) last Sunday, promised to improve the education of Abia youths, saying education remains a veritable tool to change both the social and financial fortunes of the people of the state.

“Education will be free and compulsory. Teachers will be sponsored for refresher courses to enhance their skills and qualities,” Otti disclosed shortly after he was introduced by the event facilitator Dr. Chido Nwangwu of USAfrica.

He continued; “We will renovate the existing schools and build new ones where necessary. Civil servants will be paid as at when due. I will do away with god-fatherism as governor. It has been a factor in the problems we face here.

“Our markets, including Ariaria, will be totally reconstructed with modern facilities installed to attain international standard. We will attract doctors of Abia origin around the world to come and contribute to the development of our health sector. I will renovate and equip our hospitals with priority attention to three specialist hospitals, one in each senatorial zone.”

The town hall event which lasted for more than three hours was attended by key members of the Abia State National Association, Abia First, APGA bigwigs, friends, volunteers and well-wishers.
