The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State has called on its supporters to overlook the attacks on its campaign vehicles, posters and billboards, adding that no amount of provocation should make them retaliate.
The deputy governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Isah Liman Kantigi, while analysing the acceptance of the party in the just concluded campaigns in Niger East and Niger South senatorial district, said the PDP had gained popularity by its programmes, commitments and deeds and does not need to resort to violence.
“The ruling party in the state is not out for politics of aberration and we are not going to be provoked into engaging in politics of condemnation.”
Kantigi stated that politics is not a game of posters or billboards as the people want to hear the plans each candidate has for them.
“I do not feel winning the heart of the people is through posters or billboards, I believe winning the heart of the people is by telling them what has been done before them and what you intend to do for them, that is what the governorship candidate and I are trying to do.
“It is unfortunate that some people want to win elections by game of posters and by fighting the existing structure of billboards. Attacking billboards is not the answer to winning elections. Billboards and posters do not speak and destroying them means that the people in these posters are popular.”
“We notice that some people are sponsoring these youths to destroy and attack PDP vehicles during campaigns. These people who are sent to perpetrate these acts are underage.”
