Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Mr Nyesom Wike, has said that nobody will be allowed to ridicule the office of the President in the name of playing opposition politics.

Speaking, yesterday, at a special thanksgiving service at the Omega Power Ministries, OPM, in Port Harcourt to mark the successful hosting of President Jonathan’s campaign rally at Adokiye Amesiemaka Stadium, Wike said that President Goodluck Jonathan belongs to all political parties and therefore, cannot be stopped by outgoing Governor Rotimi Amaechi from using public facilities in the state.

He said that it was un-christianly for Governor Amaechi to have declared that over his dead body would President Jonathan use the Amesiemaka Stadium.

Wike noted that it was imperative that the outgoing governor was taught a lesson on decent politicking.

He said: “President Jonathan is a president of all Nigerians. He is not the president of a political party and so he cannot be stopped from using a stadium built with public funds. There is need to de-emphasise negative politicking. We are here to thank God for the successful hosting of President Jonathan. We express gratitude for the crowd and the fact that we recorded no casualty.”

He urged Rivers people to vote President Jonathan and himself in the polls. Wike appealed to them to also vote for PDP candidates during the elections.

He promised to grant the church its building permit and certificate of occupancy allegedly denied it by Amaechi, if voted into power.

He said that his incoming administration will also sign the certificate of occupancy of all non-indigenes and grant traders business grants.

Reiterating that he was a full time Christian with no occult relationship, he urged Rivers people to investigate and know the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, who, he said was accused of alleged cult activities at Rivers State University of Science of Technology on March 10, 1993.

In his address, the General Overseer of OPM, Apostle Chibuzor, called on all members of his church and their families to pray for Wike to emerge as the next governor of Rivers State.

He also asked the church to pray for Jonathan’s re-election.
