NIGERIA: Herdsmen Kill 9 in Benue

Fulani herdsmen on Friday launched a deadly attack on five villages in Logo local government area of Benue State killing nine people in the process and burning over 100 hundred houses. The villages attacked included Chembe, Tse-Mue, Ifer, Mgbakpa and Oragbai all in Ukemberagya council ward which is four kilometres away from Anyiin, headquarters of the local government.

The gunmen had attacked the area at the early hour and shot sporadically into the air for several hours, leaving scores of people displaced. Senior Special Assistance to Governor Gabriel Suswam on Media and Public Affairs, Chief Joseph Anawah, who is an indigene of the area, said that the insurgents numbering about 100 used different routes to invade the villages.
