Gunmen suspected to be assassins on Monday murdered the pregnant daughter of Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura’s campaign organisation Director-General, Alhaji Musa Illu, Mrs. Amina Suleiman.
Mrs. Suleiman, who was seven months pregnant, was found in the pool of her blood with her neck cut and a knife stuck in her stomach.
Illu’s younger brother, Namairo Babai, said the late Amina was killed in her home in faraway Katsina State when her husband, Suleiman Mohammed, was away to Zaria for his doctoral degree programme.
“Her husband was on his way to Ahamadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. After the weekend when he tried calling but couldn’t get her, he sent someone to check just to be told that she was slaughtered.”
Babai added that late Amina, who got married two years ago, was buried by 4 p.m. on Tuesday in her husband’s home town in Katsina State.
When THISDAY visited the family compound along Shendam Road, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital yesterday, sympathisers and family members were seen consoling the deceased father who was weeping profusely.
Among the first callers was the wife of the state governor, Salamatu Tanko Al-Makura.
