Following the massive havoc wreaked on Hong Local Government headquarters and its environs in Adamawa state by the Boko Haram insurgents, Hong stakeholders have called on the Federal Government, individuals and donor agencies to take drastic measures to assist the people in their present deplorable conditions.
Speaking to journalists in Hong on Saturday, the District Head of Hong ,Alhaji Umar Mahmud Babangida, said the people are in dire need of assistance because of their current pathetic living conditions.
In their separate remarks, Chairman of Hong Local Government Ahmed Isa as well as Dr. Hong appealed for intervention from the federal government, the state government and other well-meaning Nigerians, urging them to come to the aid of the people.
A visit by THISDAY showed that some areas destroyed and burnt down completely by the insurgents inside the town include the Local Government Secretariat, quarters belonging to local government officials, shops, places of worship and houses of prominent men and retired military personal.
Checks revealed that normalcy has returned to the area and schools will fully commence on January 19 while parents were asked to send their wards to school.
