A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Senator Joseph Waku, has described the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, as a coward and confused person who has lost respect.

Waku said: “Obasanjo is the architect of our country’s mess democratically. He is a coward and does not wish this country better. He is a confused person and has lost respect among the people of this country.”

In an interview with journalists in Kano on Tuesday, Waku added that the quagmire that the country found itself resulted from the bad leadership under President Goodluck Jonathan.

Waku said: “Obasanjo attempted to extend his tenure in 2007. But with series of pressure mounted by Nigerians, he picked the ate Umaru Musa Yar’Adua as his successor knowing fully that the late president was ill and could  rule the country perfectly.”

Commenting on the coming elections, Waku pointed out that “anybody who attempts to do anything during the election, there will be crises. Nigerians will not accept any attempt to force them to accept an election result that is fake.”

He explained that the era of forcing people to accept the result of election which is against their wishes is over, assuring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would wrestle power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as Nigerians are yearning for change under General Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “I want to repeat myself that if the government in power loses election but forces itself in power, there will be a civil war in the country.”

Waku advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to be fair in conducting the general election, stressing that “Nigerians will resist any attempt to rig election. I hope the electoral body (INEC) will not allow itself to be use o rig elections.”
