Former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Oyo State on Tuesday visited major markets in Ibadan, the state capital , on a sensitisation campaign with a promise to build new markets, provide robust revolving loans to traders and do away with demolition of stalls and shops to guarantee a leap in the economic advancement of the people.

Not only that, Akala in company of his running mate, Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, and all candidates of the party across zones in the state, expressed regrets that the marketers have been made “to suffer unjustly with many sent to their early graves in view of the policy summersault of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in the state.”

To this end, he told traders in Bola Ige International Market, Gbagi, Alesinloye, Amunigun, Ifeleye among other places visited that “an end to your years of suffering and neglect is near. Vote for me again, you know what I can do, you know what I did when I was governor and you know that money was in circulation and you were trading without let or hindrance, that good old days is near when Labour Party administration takes over by the grace of God come May 29.”

Similarly, a governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, Senator Teslim Folarin, said if elected, the creation of another state from the present Oyo State will be his priority, so as to ensure that the state is not shortchanged in the development issues among other comity of states across the federation.

He urged the people of the state to vote for PDP candidates as members of the National Assembly, stating that with his experience as a Senator and their cooperation, the state would not lose out if new states were created.

He stated this on Tuesday during an extended meeting with leaders, state and local government executives and candidates of the party, held at the party’s secretariat in Mokola, Ibadan.

Folarin also called on the people of the state to re elect President Goodluck Jonathan, saying Mr. President means well for the country.

He told them to reject and not be deceived by the APC’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, who is yet to convince the world of his alleged links to Boko Haram.

The chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Yinka Taiwo said Folarin would be presented with the party’s flag tomorrow in Lagos, putting an end to fears that Folarin might be barred from flying the party’s flag.

Taiwo also called on all candidates to work harder and ensure that the party wins across board, even as he called on people to ensure they collect their Permanent Voter Cards.

Also speaking, leaders of the party including Chief Yekini Adeojo; Chief Saka Balogun; Senators Lekan Balogun and Hosea Agboola, among others, said the party would win the February 28 governorship election, even as they called on party members to work hard at wards and local government levels to rally support for the party.

“I have told Abiola Ajimobi that he should pack his loads and prepare to leave the Government House because his time is up. Instead of making people happy, he has thrown them into sorrow through the destruction of their means of livelihood. For Rashidi Ladoja, he is two years older than I am and I have told him that he is too old to be governor.  Adebayo Alao-Akala was in my house the other time and he could not walk well; why does he want to be governor by all means? This is Folarin’s time and the state will be the better for it if we support him,” Adeojo declared.

Senator Balogun also fired a salvo at the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, calling him a fascist that is driven by emotion rather than reason “who will cause trouble for the country.”
