In another move intended to flush out from his cabinet suspected President Goodluck Jonathan loyalists, Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has again tinkered with his cabinet, sacking two political appointees on Monday.

The affected officials are the Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Marie Ebikake, and the governor’s Special Adviser on Special Projects, Remmy Kuku.

The offence of both ladies who are known close associates of the First Lady,  Patience Jonathan, THISDAY gathered, was their membership of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN).

They allegedly attended a meeting of TAN on Boxing Day, at the residence of the presidential assistant on domestic affairs, Dr. Waripamowei Dudafa, a known political rival of Governor Dickson.

Their removal from office was contained in a special announcement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson. The statement said the termination of their appointments was “with immediate effect”.

It stated that the governor’s action was  in line with the administration’s process of re-organising the machinery of government to deliver on its restoration agenda.

“To this end, he has undertaken a minor cabinet shake up with the Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Mrs. Marie Ebikake, being relieved of her appointment, while her counterpart in the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mr. Markson Fefegha, has been redeployed to the Government House as the Principal Executive Secretary to the Governor with immediate effect.

“He takes over from Hon. Douye Diri, who resigned and has since emerged as the PDP candidate for the Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma federal constituency in next month’s House of Representatives election.”

Also relieved of her appointment was the Governor’s Special Adviser on Federal Projects, Mrs. Remi Kuku, while the Chief of Staff, Government House, Dame Didi Walson-Jack, heads back to the Federal Civil Service, after three years of outstanding and meritorious service to the state.

“Dickson thanked the outgoing Chief of Staff for her dedication, commitment and devotion to duty in the various capacities she served during the period of her secondment, first as Deputy Chief of Staff, pioneer commissioner of Science, Technology and Manpower Development and later as Chief of Staff, Government House.

He noted with satisfaction that given her track record of uncommon service and loyalty to the restoration government, she will make Bayelsa State and the Ijaw people proud, in view of her sterling qualities as an excellent manager of men and resources, as she makes a return to the federal civil service.

The Bayelsa State chief executive also called on the people of the state to be conscious of the antics of politicians, especially those who have failed the state in their previous assignments, to create needless divisions amongst the women, youths and other political actors in the state, stressing that they are only out to cause crisis under the guise of playing politics in a bid to flex their muscles.

Dickson also renewed his call on such politicians, especially those in positions of authority, to complement the efforts of the government in the promotion and sustenance of good governance, peace, unity and harmonious coexistence among the people of the state.

He further reassured Bayelsans of the government’s resolve and commitment to continue to protect them and focus on the administration’s robust people oriented developmental agenda.
