Senate President, Senator David Mark and the All Progressives Congress (APC), yesterday condoled with President Goodluck Jonathan and his family over the demise of his younger sister, Mrs. Nancy Jonathan-Olei, on Sunday in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
Mark in his condolence message to the president, said he was saddened by the untimely death of Mrs. Jonathan-Olei, saying “her death has robbed the nation of her worthy enterprise.”
The senate president who said he shared in the president’s grief, added that he received the news of the deceased’s passage with shock and prayed God to grant him the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
“I received the news of the death of your dear sister with shock. I earnestly identify with you and share in this painful loss. I pray that the good Lord will give you the fortitude to bear this pain and grant our beloved sister eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord,” he said.
Mark who also condoled with the people of Bayelsa State over the sad loss, urged the president and his family “to take solace in the fact that although the late Nancy lived a short life, she left a good legacy and indeed impacted positively on her immediate environment.”
On its part, the APC urged the president to take solace in God for the unquantifiable loss.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said the loss of a loved one is always an unfathomable tragedy, which is compounded when such death occurs at an unripe age.
‘’We pray that God will grant repose to the soul of the departed, comfort the president and his entire family and give them the strength to bear their loss.
‘’We also wish the immediate family of the deceased God’s succour in their moment of darkness,’’ it said.
