Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State on Friday escaped death by the whiskers when a car rammed into his convoy from the opposite direction along Yandev/Gboko road while on his way to Gboko for an official function.
According to an eyewitness, the governor who is marking his 50th birthday today escaped the accident but members of his security team were not that lucky as four of them sustained injuries.
He said the Toyota car was heading for the governors car when the back up security Toyota Prado Jeep driver noticed the movement of the opposite car and ran to block it leading to an impact that led to the Prado car somersaulting several times before falling into a ditch. Three of the security details were injured while the occupant to the Toyota car sustained severe injuries. The car carrying the governor was also badly damaged from behind.
