SuntaiBarely few days after a High Court sitting in Jalingo ruled that the resolution passed by the Taraba State Executive Council mandating the setting up of a medical panel with a view to declaring Governor Danbaba Suntai incapacitated was a gross violation of judicial powers, the ailing governor yesterday arrived in Jalingo unannounced, after returning from his medical trip to London.

Suntai, who arrived Jalingo in a chartered flight from Abuja, was conveyed in a motorcade to the Government House at about 7pm amidst tight security and without the usual long convoy.

LEADERSHIP gathered that Suntai’s arrival took many people in the state unawares as there was no prior information to that effect.

It was also learnt that some political associates of the ailing governor as well as his political opponents whose interest was to know everything about Suntai were not aware of the governor’s arrival.

Suntai’s chief press secretary, Hassan Mijinyawa had in a press release issued last Monday announced Suntai’s arrival at Abuja but was silent on when he would return to the state.

He stressed further that the governor arrived the country on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after one week of check-up in London, United Kingdom.

According to the release, the ailing governor was grateful to the people of Taraba State for their strength and continuous prayers for him and the state, and urged them to be more prayerful.

Our correspondent gathered that Governor Suntai arrived at Jalingo when the acting governor, Alhaji Garba Umar was away in Abuja for a political function.

But the senior special adviser to the acting governor on media and publicity, Mr Aaron Artimas, who confirmed the arrival of the governor in Jalingo, added that the state government has been responsible for the medical expenses of the ailing governor all along
