Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has concluded plans to visit Lagos on September 26th, to seek support from Anambra indigenes in the state.
Specifically, the Anambra Governor would be seeking support to boost security in his state.
The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Nkem Okeke disclosed this while speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a meeting he held with some Anambra indigenes in Lagos Thursday.
Okeke said the meeting was to sensitise Anambra indigenes on the planned visit of the governor to Lagos as well as on efforts by his administration to reposition the state, especially on his efforts on security of lives and property.
“He is coming to raise funds to support efforts in security, but there is no specific amount we are looking at.
“I am here basically to sensitise Anambra indigenes basically to tell them that the governor is coming and what they are to expect and also to request for support from them so that we can achieve the vision of making Anambra a safe place for all of us to live,” he said.
According to the deputy governor, the funds to be raised would help step up security awareness in the state.
“We want to do whatever it takes to eliminate crime and other forms of insecurity in the state. Whatever it takes, his Excellency is willing and ready, but we need the support of everyone to help us achieve that,” Okeke said.
According to the deputy governor, those that were present at the meeting expressed their preparedness to support the state government’s efforts in eliminating criminals from the state.
“People now come to Anambra without bringing a battalion of policemen because of what this administration is doing and we need to sustain that to make sure that, the situation is sustained.
“The whole idea is that if you provide security, people would come and invest in the state and the first people that would come are the indigenes, to show that they believe in what is going on, then, foreigners would also come and invest.
“The business opportunities in the state range from agriculture, opportunity for SMEs, trade and commerce, among others,” he added.
