okah-henryYenagoa — Family of the arrested leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND),Henry Okah yesterday raised alarm over the invasion and arrest of the brother, Charles Okah and four others, including the son of the former Governor of Oyo State, Sola Ladoja by the men of the State Security Service (SSS) in Lagos.

According to the family, the investigators into the bomb explosion in Abuja , invaded the home of Charles Okah and arrested him, his son, Bolaebi Okah, his close friend,Sola Ladoja and one Felix Okufre after an alleged thorough beating and seizure of mobile telephones and laptops in the building.

LEADERSHIP gathered yesterday that when security operatives arrived the Lagos residence of the younger brother to Henry Okah in Apapa area of Lagos, they met the son of former governor Rasheed Ladoja and two other persons who had come to visit Charles’ son on his return from South Africa where he had gone for medical treatment following a recent motor accident.

Family sources told Leadership that the car driven to the house by Sola Ladoja is still parked outside the building and they are frantically searching for the contact number of the former governor to inform him of the plight of his son.

It was gathered that the men of the SSS, numbering about ten, stormed the home of Charles Okah at about 2pm on Friday and left at about 5pm.All the mobile phones, belonging to the wife, Charles Okah and three other visitors, were seized with some computers carted away.

While Mrs. Angela Okah has contacted some notable family members in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State to assist and find out the whereabouts of the arrested Charles Okah, she has called on the President to prevail on the SSS to allow her and her children have access to their husband and father.

Mrs. Angela Okah, while speaking yesterday with Leadership on telephone, said her fear and that of other members of the Okah family was the indiscriminate harassment and arrest, “since Charles and three of her friends were arrested, we don’t know where they are. I am worried and am calling on the SSS to let us have access to him.”

“The men came and seized all our international passports and mobile phones in the house.”

Leadership checks at Amassoma Community of Southern Ijaw Local Council area of Bayelsa State showed signs of tension among close relatives of the arrested Henry Okah and Charles Okah.

Attempts by Leadership to speak with some of them were rebuffed but they claimed the action of the SSS is a victimisation of the entire family,”if they are investigating Okah Henry, they should concentrate on that. Many of us have for a long time severed ties with Henry over his nefarious and secret activities. Let them not violate our fundermental human rights.
