Abuja Traders to Close down Market, Plazas Thursday

The National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTS), the umbrella body of all traders’ groups in Nigeria, will close all markets and shopping plazas in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  tomorrow to honour of the victims of the EMAB Plaza bomb blast

The President of NANTS, Mr. Ken. Ukaoha, who disclosed this development to newsmen in Abuja yesterday said: “We have decided that our market and plazas would be closed until 12noon on Thursday, July 17, 2014.”

“It is very worrisome that the bombing of markets and plazas and commercial places is gradually becoming the order of the day in the country to the point that people are now scared of going to markets,” he added

Ukaoha also informed of the  group’s resolution to direct its FCT chapter  to co-ordinate a solidarity programme that would assist in the treatment and rehabilitation of the affected victims.

He expressed concern over the non-permanence of the presence of security operatives in and around the market and plazas in FCT.
