The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has welcomed the former Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Commissioner and a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Dr. Benson Enikuomehin and his supporters to the party.

Enikoumehin was a member of PDP before decamping to the LP for what he described as humiliation from the Ondo State chapter of the PDP.
Receiving the decampees from LP, the South-west National Vice Chairman of PDP, Chief Isola Filani, said the PDP has staged a comeback to mainstream of Nigeria politics now with the election of Ayo Fayose in Ekiti, adding that PDP would go ahead to win the August 9 governorship election in Osun State.

According to him, “In Osun State, we have hope. We are just coming from the campaign in Osun and the impression we got there shows that we have no problem at all there. All what we need is the cooperation of all PDP members in the South west, just like they did in Ekiti where they came out to support the party.”
The governorship candidate of PDP in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, disclosed that a new wind of change is blowing across the country, saying that PDP would take over South-west by 2015.
Former Chairman and CEO of Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) advised the people not to express any doubt as the PDP is ready to win back its states which were taken away from them.

Enikuomehin who spoke on behalf of the decampees, said he was deceived into believing that once Governor Olusegun Mimiko wins the governorship election under the platform of LP, he would defect to PDP, adding that he fell out with Mimiko because he has no good plan for the people of the riverine areas. He alleged that despite the N2.1 billion that accrues to the state monthly as 13 per cent oil derivation from federation account, the Ilaje/Eseodo Federal Constituency has nothing to show for it.
