As political gladiators strategies on how to grab power in the 2015 governorship election in Delta State, the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, representing Delta North federal constituency in the red chambers has raised the alarm over threat to his life.
He said some political opponents who were out to truncate his political ambition have concluded plans to eliminate him at all cost.
Okowa is believed to be a major contender in the race to succeed Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in the 2015 gubernatorial race in Delta State.
Okowa, while briefing the press yesterday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, said some political foes have concluded plans to eliminate him , through ‘attacks and malicious allegations’, which he said “stems from the fact that there is a governorship election in a few months time” as they are stopping at nothing to stop him.
He therefore called on President Goodluck Jonathan and the Inspector- General of Police , Mohammed Abubakar to offer him the necessary protection against those he alleged were bent of getting rid of him.
Okowa is also asking the Delta State High court to give him the necessary protection, through writ of summons to restrain one Mr. John Agbo, of Alishime road , Agbor-obi, in Ika South local government area and his agents from further carrying out threat on his life and writing, printing, or circulating libellous materials against him.
Okowa who is the immediate past Delta State SSG , alleged that his detractors have employed series of campaigns of calumny, including newspaper publication to spread falsehood against his personality in order not to only ridicule him, but lower his estimation in the eyes of the public.
Okowa who spoke through his lawyer, Mr Peter Mrakpor , alleged that one of such antics employed was his alleged involvement in the murder of one Arthur Agbe, a youth in 2003 from Agbor , in Ika South local government area.
