A political support group, Team Goodluck Nigeria 2015, has said the success of penultimate Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State was a clear indication that President Goodluck Jonathan’s reform agenda is working, especially as it has brought sanity in the nation’s electoral process.
Addressing journalists, the South-east zonal Coordinator of the group, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, noted that the Ekiti governorship election was free and fair and devoid of rancour as a result of the reforms in the country’s electoral process initiated by President Jonathan when he assumed office.
Okeke specifically noted that the reforms had made it possible for the electoral umpire INEC and stakeholders to work hand in hand for the success of the elections so far conducted in the country, adding that by this development, politics of rancour and acrimony had been put aside as the clear winner always emerges without interference from outside influence.
Congratulating the winner, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, for his success at the election, Okeke urged him to use the opportunity of the mandate as governor to initiate viable policies and programmes that would serve the overall interest of the masses so that history would remember him well at last.
He also commended the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, who contested the election alongside with Fayose for exhibiting the spirit of sportsmanship by accepting defeat and congratulating the winner, stressing that this would stand as a good example to other leaders.
