As condemnation trails Monday’s attack on the Kano School of Hygiene, the supervising Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike, has called on school authorities to work with security agencies to improve security on and around their premises.
This was as he condemned the attack which claimed at least eight lives and injured several others.
Wike, in a statement issued by his Special Assistant (Media), Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, described the attack as another cowardly attempt to instill fear in the minds of Nigerians who wish to improve their lives by acquiring education.
He reiterated the willingness of the ministry to work with state ministries to prevent attacks on educational institutions by terrorists.
“at the federal level, the Federal Ministry of Education has reached out to the Ministry of Defence, which has made a firm commitment to always provide the necessary services and advice to all levels of governance in the overall bid to resolve the security challenge now facing schools in some parts of the country,” he said.
Wike added that with vigilance on the part of all stakeholders, the terrorists would not succeed with the ungodly goal of attempting to discourage Nigerian youths and children from keying into the educational programmes.
