NIGERIA: Kwankwaso Approves N600m for Road Projects

Over N600 million has been approved by the government of Kano State for the construction of Jaba – Rimin Kebe and Jaba – Gayawa roads in Kano metropolitan area in order to ease traffic flow and to modernise the areas.

The state Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who made the approval during a meeting with 44 Local Government Council chairmen at Africa House, Kano Government House, explained that Jaba – Rimin Kebe road would gulp N380,860,730.17 while Jaba – Gayawa road will cost N255,534,801.88.

He promised that the projects, located within Nassarawa and Ungogo local government areas would be completed before the end of his administration, adding that the state government would ensure that the both projects were qualitatively executed.

The governor stated that the government decided to embark on the two projects to ease the suffering of the people, lamenting that when he visited the areas recently, he was appalled by the poor road network.

On the recently awarded contracts for underpass projects at Kofar Kabuga and Gadon Kaya roads, the governor urged people plying the route to bear with government as very soon, construction would commence which might cause hold-up on the roads, noting that the government was making plans to provide alternative ways for motorists.

He appealed to local government chairmen to work more closely with the state government especially on the construction of 5 kilometer roads in their areas as well as other joint projects so as to ensure their speedy completion.

The governor further tasked the local council officials to make put more effort on polio immunisation in their domains with a view to making the state free from the virus.
