The federal government yesterday said the abducted Lebanese national,  Khaleel Diyab, who was held in Latang area of Plateau State has regained his freedom.

The Coordinator of the National Briefing Centre on Terrorism and Director General of National Orientation Agency ( NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, announced yesterday that Diyab, who was erroneously reported to be Briton, secured his freedom through the efforts of security forces.

Omeri however, did not disclose details of how he was freed.
“A Lebanese national by name Khaleel Diyab, who was abducted by some bandits in Plateau State was last night freed through the efforts of security forces. Diyab, who was reported in the media to be a Briton, works with Retro Construction company,” he said.
Omeri also said troops in Maidiguri had apprehended seven terrorists who infiltrated the town to carry out attacks. He stated that the terrorists confessed to having terror missions as directed by their superiors.

“In the course of interrogation,  they explained that they were asked to carry out some bombings and sabotage activities in furtherance of directives of the leadership of the terrorists group,” he added.

Speaking on the defused bombs at the Winners’ Chapel in Owerri, Imo State,  the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Frank Mba, urged Nigerians not to hastily link the attempt to Boko Haram.
Mba said investigation was ongoing on the matter and that the masterminds of the bomb attempt would be unravelled soon.
“The media as well as citizens should not be in a hurry to link the Owerri incidence to the established terror source that we know, We are leaving our options opened and we are ready to test all hypothesis,” Mba stated.

Meanwhile, Omeri has declared that the Nigerian Army did not give an order for ‘shot at sight’ during the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State. He explained that the military had no business during the election, wondering why such order would emanate from the force.

“I have not heard or seen that an order for ‘shoot at sight’ has been issued. The military has no business in the election, so how would they have made such an order,” he said.
