Edo State Government has said it is pioneering a new integrated approach in adult and non-formal Education that is community-based, driven and evaluated.

The new approach, according to the state Commissioner for Basic Education, Mr. Patrick Aguinede, was the adoption of a modern apprenticeship system laced with basic literacy and numeracy.

The commissioner, who was represented by Director of School Services, Godfrey Ehon, explained that the aim of adopting the new approach is to produce certified persons who are not only able to read and write, but equipped to do business, interact and socialise in English language and other indigenous and at the same time, have skills in one or two crafts/vocations that can make them useful to the society.
