Some pressure groups in the Southern Kaduna senatorial district in Kaduna State have vowed to stop the reelection bid of the senator representing the area, Senator Nenadi Usman, alleging poor representation.

The groups, Gurara Forum and the Concerned Realists of Southern at separate press conferences in Kaduna,  said Usman, a former Minister of Finance, had failed in her responsibilities as the representative of the people and therefore should not seek reelection in 2015,

Besides, the groups accused her of having dual loyalty and therefore, lacked the capacity to defend the interest of the Southern Kaduna senatorial zone.

The Chairman of Gurara forum, Mr. Vincent Bodam, who addressed journalists yesterday in Kaduna, accused the senator of not identifying with the people, stressing that in spite of the persistent attacks and killing of people in various communities in the area, the senator has not demonstrated enough concern for the victims of the attacks.
Bodam also alleged that the senator had neither influenced any developmental project to the area nor  she speak out  against the frequent attacks on communities in her constituencies.

He noted that it was surprising that  while the senator could spend millions of naira to purchase cars, motor cycles and grinding machines for distribution to her supporters for her 2015 reelection bid, adding that she only doled out a paltry sum of N200,000 to the over 80 victims of the Attakar massacre.

“We have seen senators from states infested by the Boko Haram terrorists discuss the plight of their people on the floor of the senate following the deadly activities of the terrorists group, but that has not been the case with our own senator whose people were being massacre by rampaging gun men.

“She cannot fully represent us because of her dual loyalty as a result of her allegiance of marriage and we want to advise her not to contest for reelection in 2015 because we are going mobilise our people to vote for a person who will represent them well in the senate,” Bodam said.

He added that only recently, the senator “decided to pull the wool over our eyes by spending so much money to buy the usual so-called empowerment items of cars, motorcycles, grinding machines and tricycles called know  ‘Keke NAPEP’ for some few selected supporters

“This, to us is just antics, she has lost grounds in her constituency because she has failed in her responsibilities in the zone….We will resist any attempt by anybody to force her on our people….

“The southern kaduna senatorial zone will no linger accept mediocrity in the representation of our people. We are looking for a senator who will who will be a true representative of our people” Bodam declared.

On their own,  the Concerned Realists at a news conference on Sunday accused the senator for lack of sensitivity to the feeling of the people of her senatorial district, noting that while the people were still mourning those killed in the many attacks in the area by gun men, the senator was distributing motorcycles and cars to her supporters.

The Chairman of the group, Dr. John Danfulani said it was very unfortunate that while “the people  were still mourning the massacre of hundreds of people killed in the various attacks on communities in the area, the senator was busy distributing cars and motorcycles to her supporter in Kafanchan in the name of empowerment.
According to him, it was tantamount to lack of sensitivity to the plight of the people adding that it was an outright display of political insensitivity and arrogance.

“Southern Kaduna were still mourning the brutal killings of 148 innocent villagers in Bondong District, Moroa Chiefdom and over 200 persons killed in Mafang, Zilang and other villages in Attakad Chiefdom” Danfulani said.
