Obasanjo Foundation Plans Economic Summit July 8 in London

The Forum of Governors’ Network (FOG), a media outfit championing the cause of monitoring and showcasing the activities of the Nigerian state executives and their efforts in building a united and economically-sound society, in conjunction with Olusegun Obasanjo Global Foundation (OOF), a UK-based charity established to improve human security for all in Africa, will in London on July 8 convene a conference tagged “Nigeria Governors’ Conference London 2014” to garner global support for the socio-economic and sustainable development in Nigeria.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, other notable world leaders,  captain of industries, business moguls and development agencies will attend and give keynote addresses during the conference.
The speeches and presentations made during the event would be collated and published as a report in a book form.
The OOF would feature details of the event on its website as will also the forum of governors network.
According to a statement by the Chief Operating Officer of the forum, Adekunle Adebanjo, the theme of the conference will be “Promoting social and economic development and investment in Nigeria.”
The conference aims to raise awareness on the context of each State, their needs and their key areas of focus with emphasis on education, health, agriculture and human development to promote socio-economic development by generating support from donor organisations and private sector companies.
The statement said participating organisations at the event would indicate partnerships with the various states.  Funds raised wouldl help to develop infrastructure, health, education and support socio-economic development throughout Nigeria.
The event would be a gathering of Nigerian state governors, state commissioners, Directors of Health, education, agriculture, labour, trade and investment, youth development, and  organisations like GlaxoSmithKline, Nike Foundation, Intel, World Bank, DFID, British Council, ODI, Plan UK, Proctor & Gamble, UNHCR, White & Case, amongst other leading organisations and corporations are free to participate.
The conference, which will take place on July 8, at the Corinthia Hotel, Whitehall Place, London, is an opportunity for the participants to shape priority actions that will enhance socio-economic support and investment for states in Nigeria.
