The cake is expected to be 100ft long, 6ft high, 65 tonnes (65,000kg) and is to require the services of at least 2,000 people, and is expected to beat the current Guinness World Record for the largest cake.
Organisers of the private project have tagged is as, â€˜one meal one nationâ€™ and said that the project is supposed to turn the national cake that is always talked about in Nigeria into reality and give Nigerians an actual cake to feed on. Every state in Nigeria is to receive one ton of cake and every tribe is expected to be represented in Abuja as well.
Although the project is a private project, President Goodluck Jonathan is expected to attend the occassion and cut the cake on October 1, 2010.
Officials of the Guinness World Records are also reported to have been contacted and an adjudicator from Guinness is expected to arrive Nigeria from New York to inspect and judge the project.
If the teamâ€™s cake must to enter the Guinness World Records, Mr. Oluwafemi and his team will have to start and finish the cake within 24 hours; the team plans to do so in 8.
â€œWe are going to bake the cake in about 8 hours. The cake is going to be baked, cooled and iced on the same day,â€ Mr. Yakwo said.
The team says that it has been in touch with the officials of the Guinness World Records and that a Guinness adjudicator will arrive from New York to inspect the project from start to finish.
