As the war against the terrorist group, Boko Haram, by the federal government intensifies, the military was reported to have bombed the terrorists' camps located in parts of Bauchi State, according to local and security sources.
As early as 6 .a.m., locals said they heard loud sounds of explosives towards the forest where terrorists' camps are reportedly located.
THISDAY checks revealed that a sizeable number of gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect have been operating in the Balmo forests in Darazo, Burra in Ningi, Soro in Ganjuwa and Yugda forests between Zara and Miya, while another camp was believed to exist around the Bauchi to Gombe border in Alkaleri.
Some of the locals in the forest communities who pleaded anosnymity said the vibration shook their buildings to the foundation, adding that shortly after the explosions were heard they saw military aircraft bearing Nigerian flags hovering in the sky.
A reliable security source in the state confirmed that the army had started, its operation in the forest but did not give details of the operation, adding that the exercise was carried out without creating panic among the inhabitants of the forests.
