An official of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), simply identified as Nwaeze, has allegedly bathed a young woman, Tope Fadipe, with acid. This is coming at a time when the customs command is trying to extricate itself from a rape charge against two of its personnel, Felola Uzezi and Mohammed Sanni, who were accused of raping a 23-year-old lady at Limca Bus Stop area, in Badagry.
The incident, which occurred at the Badagry area of Lagos, saw Nwaeze, who heads the customs unit at Mosafejo Aradagun unit, bathe the victim, a salesgirl at his restaurant with acid over an allegation of un-remitted N50,000.
According to an eyewitness account, the incident which began as an argument, soon became an altercation when the visibly enraged Nwaeze stormed off.
Despite maintaining her innocence on the said missing money, Nwaeze came back with the acid with which he allegedly bathed the victim with.
Fadipe, who is currently receiving treatment for her severe burns at the Badagry General Hospital, is said to be in a critical condition as her burns continue to worsen instead of healing.
Although the matter was initially reported at the Badagry Police Division, the suspect was said to have evaded arrest until he was later picked up by the police.
In telephone conversation with THISDAY, the Badagry Divisional assan, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said the suspect had since been arrested contrary to claims that he was still in the neighbourhood. the case to the State Criminal and Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, where investigations are currently ongoing."
