The national leadership of the Labour Party (LP) yesterday declared support for re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan come 2015.

The national leaders who stormed Abeokuta, the state capital for unity rally of the party included the National executives led by Chief Dan Nwanyawu; Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko; and former Ogun State governor, Gbenga Daniel; former Minister of Mines and Steel development, Alhaji Sharaf Ishola, and governorship aspirants: Gboyega Isiaka, Sina Kawonishe.

While addressing large crowd of party members, Nwanyawu said the party in the state does not have division, saying “there’s one LP in the state and it is united.”

He said as the 2015 election draws closer, the party has vowed to throw their support for Jonathan re-election, noting that the same support was given to him in his last election. He urged Ogun people to continue praying for Jonathan, saying his government has no peace since he assumed office.

He added “let us pray for the school girls that were abducted Borno State and as we keep praying may God release them for us.”
In his speech, Mimiko said, “we supported Jonathan in 2007, and we will still continue to support him”, adding, “LP is different because we have ideological focus, for the benefit of our people”.
