Sokoto State Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko, yesterday said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not impose any candidate on its members in the state.

Wamakko gave the assurance when the newly-elected executive members of the party in the state paid him a courtesy call in Sokoto.
He maintained that the APC would allow its members to freely choose their candidates at all levels without subverting their will.

"We will ensure that a level-playing ground is provided for all our members wishing to aspire for any office in the state," Wamakko stated.
The governor emphasised that the party was committed to ensuring the prevalence of peace and unity in the country.

He urged the leaders of the party at all levels to ensure fairness, justice and transparency in all their activities.
He also reminded them of the confidence reposed in them and the need to work hard in meeting the aspirations of the people.
Earlier, the state Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Bala Hassan, pledged to live above board and to carry all the members along in the scheme of things.

He reaffirmed his determination to justify the confidence reposed in them by working assiduously towards meeting the yearnings of the members.
