Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has assured workers of improved welfare, better working conditions and extra pay at the end of the year.

Giving the assurance yesterday at the May Day celebration in Asaba,   Uduaghan said the workers deserved to be motivated and appreciated for their roles in ensuring increased productivity, stable government and virile economy.  He disclosed that the extra pay package, which will be the first of its kind in the state, was to encourage them to always put in their best.

The governor also told the gathering that his administration will employ more teachers and health workers within the next few weeks in addition to the ongoing employment into the state civil service. Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Mr.  Williams Akporeha,  commended the Uduaghan administration for giving permanent jobs to a large number of casual workers.
