About eight persons including women and children died in five major auto crashes in different parts of Kwara State during last Easter celebration.
Addressing newsmen in Ilorin Friday, the state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mrs. Mary Wakama, said the five road crashes recorded during the period involved 99 persons out of which 91 were injured while eight lost their lives.
Wakama said that the cause of the accidents was due to dangerous driving and speed limit violation among other traffic offences.
She also said that the command arrested 320 traffic offenders during the period for committing 331 offences while 278 motorists were cautioned.
The sector commander identified some of the offences committed by some motorists during the period as seat belt violation, tyre violation, side mirror violation and overloading among others.
Wakama said the two Mobile Courts in llorin and Omu Aran prosecuted 63 traffic offenders out of which 58 were convicted and five discharged.
She said the Command would continue to work round the clock to ensure that there is sanity on all roads in the state.
The sector commander also warned Motorists to continue to be law abiding and avoid acts capable of causing confusion on roads.
